Game Mode name comparisons[]
Unlike the Japanese game mode names (With the exception of VS to VS. COM and Stage Clear to Story Mode), the names have changed frequently throughout every game localization in the series. English names will be used here to represent the term changes. Score Attack is oddly used as the name for the Endless mode in Animal Crossing: Puzzle League minigame localization as its usually representative as the mode with a time limit.
The original terms will be used to represent the game mode names for the articles when they are mentioned outside of the respective game modes and cheats section.

Endless[]
Endless Mode is a mode where you play until you get a game over. The panels will continually rise from the bottom, and you must clear the panels to prevent them from reaching the top of the screen. As panels are cleared away, your level increases, which increases how quickly the panels rise. Use Combos and Chains to trigger Stops that will temporarily stop the stack from rising. Doing well in this mode awards you with a special animation depending on the stage you chose, as well as a statistical breakdown of how many combos and chains you performed.
Score Attack[]
Score Attack mode is a time-based mode where the goal is to score as many points as you can in a set time limit.
Stage Clear[]
Stage Clear mode is a mode where the goal is to clear away panels, similar to Endless Mode. However, in Stage Clear Mode, a Clear Line will eventually appear in the stack, and the goal is to clear panels until they can all fit below the line. Succeed at this, and you proceed to the next round.
Some rounds are Boss Battle rounds where the goal is to use combos and chains to damage an opponent until their power is completely depleted.
